Liferay Enterprise Search

Liferay’s Enterprise Search (LES) features significantly upgrade the default search capabilities. With a LES subscription you gain the following benefits:

Search Blueprints: Tailor the search to your users’ needs with low-code configuration. Add to the query or other parts of the search request to filter, boost matches, sort results, and more. You can apply blueprints to search requests in collection displays, the search page, search-as-you-type suggestions in the search bar, or to headless search requests.

Semantic Search: Coordinate artificial intelligence (AI) embedding models and search blueprints to return the most relevant results. Semantic search evaluates the intent behind the user’s search phrase and the meaning of indexed content.

Cross-Cluster Replication: Enhance multi-region Liferay DXP deployments with performance gains, data locality, and disaster recovery by continuously replicating search data across geographically distant search engine clusters.

Learning to Rank: Harness machine learning (ML) to improve search result rankings. By combining the expertise of data scientists with ML, you can produce a smarter scoring function for Liferay’s search queries.

Elasticsearch Monitoring: Integrate Kibana to gain deeper insights into Elasticsearch directly in Liferay. With these insights you can optimize performance, improve the user experience, and make data-driven decisions that improve business results.

Consolidated Support: Receive comprehensive single-channel support for your integrated Liferay DXP and Elastic stack.

Platinum Elastic Stack License and Features: With the LES subscription, self-hosted and PaaS deployments can access platinum level Elastic features, including observability, operational resilience, and additional ML/AI features. The license is provided by Liferay for self-hosted deployments and provisioned automatically for PaaS deployments.

Note

For self-hosted deployments, there can be a delay between your LES subscription and receipt of your platinum Elasticsearch license, but you can enable a 30-day trial to work with in the meantime.

Important
  • While LES features are free to use and may work with either Elasticsearch or OpenSearch, the LES subscription for support is only available with Elasticsearch.
  • Cross Cluster Replication does not work without a platinum Elasticsearch license. The LES subscription provides the needed license for self-hosted and PaaS deployments.
  • Always check the LES compatibility matrix for compatibility information.

While the LES features are bundled with Liferay DXP and available out-of-the-box, an active subscription is required to receive support. To deactivate the LES features, see Deactivating Liferay Enterprise Search.
