Issue

  • After updating to SP1 (fix pack dxp-2) on DXP 7.2 the $[Liferay-home]/work folder is no longer there or no longer generates new content

Environment

  • DXP 7.2 SP1 or above.

Resolution

  • The $[Liferay-home]/work folder was used for two purposes:
    • Save the precompiled JSP files from each module.
    • Save the images from the Sprite Framework.
  • As for the first function since the LPS-98312 the precompiled JSP are stored on the jar files from each module. In case there's the need to override a specific module file (like a CSS, JS or JSP) the use of the work folder can be re-enabled adding the following  property on the portal-ext.properties file:
work.dir.override.enabled=true
  • And for the second one the Sprite module have been disabled since LPS-97142 however, if desired or the modules require it, this can be re-enabled adding the following  property on the portal-ext.properties file:
sprite.enabled=true
