Spaces are the primary organizational units in the CMS. They function similarly to asset libraries but are fully integrated into the CMS interface, providing teams with a dedicated environment to create, manage, and deliver content.
You can access spaces in two ways:
- From the Global Menu (
): Click CMS to open the CMS home page, a specific space to open its overview (up to six spaces appear, sorted by most recently modified), or All Spaces to view every space.

- From the CMS home page: Once inside, a list of spaces is shown in the left menu. Favorite spaces appear first, and you can quickly access any space’s home page, which summarizes recent content, files, members, and connected sites.

Each space has its own home page summarizing recent content, files, members, and connected sites. From here, you can view details or jump into full management screens.
Spaces vs. Asset Libraries
Spaces and asset libraries both serve as external repositories that can be connected to sites for content delivery. However:
-
Spaces appear inside the CMS interface and are the default environment for day-to-day content work.
 -
Asset libraries remain available only from the global menu and continue to support existing content models (blogs, web content, documents, media).
 -
In site mappings and collection displays, you can select content from sites, asset libraries, or spaces-—-all are available, but spaces are managed exclusively within the CMS.

Roles and Permissions
Space roles share the same model as asset library roles and site roles. Permissions are scoped to the specific space, ensuring members can only act within the environment they belong to. For example, a Space Member inherits the same role type across spaces, but available actions differ depending on the asset types supported by each environment.
Key Capabilities
Within a space, you can
-
Create and manage content and files using content structures defined in the CMS
 -
Organize assets into folders and apply space-scoped categories
 -
Add and manage members with space-specific roles
 -
Connect the space to one or more sites for delivery
 -
Configure permissions, languages, and sharing options
 -
Share content between spaces or export/import space configurations
 -
Recover deleted assets from the recycle bin

Spaces provide the flexibility of asset libraries while aligning with the new CMS model, making them the foundation for structured, collaborative content management going forward.
